Map shows New York UFO sightings since the year 2000 with thousands spotted

New York has been the scene of a large number of UFO sightings since the year 2000, according to this map, produced by the The National UFO Reporting Center. According to their website, the center was established in 1974 to «receive, record, and to the greatest degree possible, corroborate and document reports from individuals who have been witness to unusual, possibly UFO-related events.»

In this time, the center has processed over 170,000 reports and their website has been running continuously since its establishment in 1994. It is independent from other UFO related organizations and it guarantees people who report to it anonymity.

The NUFORC website includes an interactive map where people can look up and see if there has been many UFO sightings where they live, with the available data on the map stretching from 2000 to the current day.

The green dots on the map denote recent sightings. The red, on the other hand, are historical sightings. In total, there has been 5908 sightings of supposed UFOs in New York since 2000.

The latest report, logged in the websites data bank, came on February 14 from Potsdam. «An object with lights on either end, moving perpendicular to the lights. Ahead of it was a blurry white bow wake in a crystal clear sky,» the sighting description read.

Another report, from Fultonville on February 10, described a » fying orb». «I was checking to make sure that my garage was locked when I looked up and saw an eraser sized radiant orb flowing under and over cloud,» the website user wrote.
