‘Believing UFO religion cost me jobs but I know when aliens will land on Earth’

Aliens will descend on Earth within the next decade, according to a former West End star whose career suffered because of his beliefs.

Glenn Carter is the president of the British Raëlian movement – a group made up of Britons who work various jobs from government officials to midwives.

The UFO-inspired religion was set up by former French race car journalist Claude Vorilhon, who changed his name to Raël after he claimed to be visited by aliens in 1973.

British Raelians

Claude Vorilhon was a racing car journalist before visitors from the sky changed the course of his life

He said an ET descended from a craft in the sky to tell him that all human life was created by aliens from space as a scientific experiment.

Raël claims that the alien messengers, also known as the Elohim or “those who came from the sky”, asked him to become the messenger so he could tell the people of Earth what he had learned.

These teachings eventually struck a chord with Glenn who became a Raëlian when he stumbled upon one of Raël’s books called ‘The Final Message’, while rehearsing for Saturday Night Fever at the London Palladium.

He later became president of the British Raëlian movement – something which he said has damaged his acting career.

And speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “In short, my function is to primarily to manage the Raëlians in the UK, organise events and to stand in front of the Raëlians when needed.

He described aliens as being advanced humans from another planet

“My career has been damaged and I won’t allow it to happen to them, if I can avoid it. UK Raëlians include doctors, a neurobiologist, midwives, several artists, actors and musicians, some students, housewives and house husbands, social workers, businessmen and women and a government official, to name but a few professionals.

“These include people of all sexualities and some unemployed. We are an eccentric bunch. I say this respectfully and without any animosity – we don’t court anyone’s approval.”

Approval aside, Glenn also said the movement does not strive to convert the world to their philosophy, and instead seeks to make people aware of their version of human creation.

And as for what that looks like, he clarified: “We were created using genetic science and DNA. We are the original creations of Elohim and they observe us and have done so throughout history. They wish to return to us and introduce themselves when we are ready, sometime between now and 2035.”

He added that the Raëlians wish to build an embassy on Earth for their imminent arrival– a place where world leaders can meet to share knowledge.

Glenn – who said he is still discriminated against for his beliefs to this day – regards aliens as being “simply humans” who are advanced and from another planet. He was initially sceptical of the philosophy but said the more he read, the more the writing made sense to him.

He said the bigotry of others has impacted his career

But embracing it publicly caused his acting career to slide, despite having an impressive CV for his roles in Broadway and West End productions. However, he hopes he will one day be validated when the Elohim return to Earth.

He explained: “Negative publicity also aids us in this goal so we are not frightened by this. However, if we are correct, then possibly one day everyone will follow our philosophy as it will then be seen as the truth of our origins, which means that human beings are the truth of creation, not a God or mythical force but human men and women.”

A new Netflix documentary called Raël: The Alien Prophet was released on February 7 and features interviews with the man himself, along with his followers and critics.
