Rep. Tim Burchett leads the charge for UFO transparency with the introduction of ‘The UAP Transparency Act’ following NARA’s disclosure guidelines.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has recently stirred up a frenzy, after having released extensive guidelines pertaining to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), more commonly referred to as UFOs. As per the guidelines, federal agencies are now mandated to disclose all records relating to UFOs. The new directive has been issued following the enactment of a new provision embedded within the 2024 National Defence Authorization Act (NDAA). This provision mandates the creation of a centralised UAP Records Collection.
The NARA guidance was released on May 9, equipping agencies with a three-step process; they are to carefully identify, review and organise records related to UAP’s in their possession. First, agencies are directed to prepare and catalog metadata elements for every record. Second, they must carry out a thorough access review of the records, so as to decide which can be disclosed to the public, partially restricted or entirely withheld. Agencies are to ensure that all pertinent documents are turned in to the National Archives in a digital format by the end of the current fiscal year, September 30.
Under this new framework, the UAP Records Collection will include all government-provided or funded UAP-related records, technologies of unknown origin, and non-human intelligence. Unclassified copies of these records will be made accessible to the public online through the National Archives catalogue.
Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee has been spearheading the congressional push for transparency regarding UFO’s, coinciding with these latest developments. Rep. Burchett has recently proposed a new bill, “The UAP Transparency Act.” Under this act, federal agencies will be mandated to declassify all UAP-related documents. The bill also calls upon the President to provide quarterly progress reports to congressional subcommittees, reflecting commitment towards transparency in this issue.
So far, concerns linger about the credibility of past government initiatives and the levels of transparency provided. Pentagon has released a report stating that so far, there is no legitimate evidence of extraterrestrial technology. However, both, lawmakers and the general public alike, remain skeptical. Rep. Burchett voiced his frustration over what he perceives to be tactics to divert attention, as well as excessive secrecy surrounding UAP-related expenditures.
Moving forward, Congress remains resolute in its efforts to achieve complete disclosure. There are plans for public hearings on UFOs, including investigations into Unidentified Submerged Objects (USOs), in the making. NARA’s latest guidelines is a step forward towards exposing the truth behind UFOs once and for all.
