Thousands of people were left scratching their heads after a strange light was seen ‘floating’ in the sky over Oklahoma this week, with this video of the sighting going viral on TikTok.

The odd sight was caught on camera on Monday night, and there still hasn’t been official confirmation surrounding its origin, leading many people online to describe it as a «UFO.»

«What is that? » someone asks in the TikTok video. Steve Aragona, who recorded the clip, was hanging out with his kids and neighbors on March 4 at 7:29 p.m. «Everybody was playing out front and my neighbor Kevin says, ‘Steve take a look at this.’ I looked up and this white thing appeared in the sky,» Aragona shared.

«Everybody had their opinions about what it was.» One kid shouted, «It’s a shooting star! » But an adult said, «No, it’s moving too slowly to be a shooting star,» «Is it a UFO? » «That is a UFO,» another kid insisted, reports the Mirror US.

Then, one of the objects in the sky broke into pieces, and a big ring of smoke appeared. «Looks like it’s separating from itself,» Aragona observed.

«No! Those are sound waves,» a kid suggested. Ken Carson, an Aerospace professor at OU, thought the mystery object might just be a rocket. «It looked like a normal ascent of a rocket with a booster separating staging,» Carson explained. «It’s a new blast, if you will, of oxidized propellant, coming off the separation of that first stage,» he told Channel 4.

The origin of the strange aircraft remains a mystery to many. On the same day, Space X had a launch in Florida on March 4. However, this was at 6.56 p.m. ET, which means it was 5.56 p.m. CT.

The video recorded by Aragona was at 7:29 p.m. CT, an hour and a half earlier. Aragona also said he saw something in the western sky. If it had come from Florida, it would have been visible in the east.

Local astronomer Wayne Harris-Wyrick says he doesn’t believe the object came from the Space X launch. «I looked at all the launches of space x and other public announced launches,» Harris-Wyrick said. «My best guess is Vandenberg Space Force Base launched some sort of secret military flight, or whatever they do.»

Vandenberg Space Force Base is located California. When asked about the Space X launch, a PR representative said their launch dates don’t match with the UFO sighting.

However, the spokesperson also said that the airborne object didn’t belong to them and suggested it might have come from another Space Force base in Florida. But, officials there believed it came from Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas.

This mystery was passed on to an investigator by a different representative. Experts have urged people to keep probing and searching until it is found what the object is. «I’m just glad people are outside looking up at the sky,» added Carson.
