From the US Air Force’s Project Blue Book to the Roswell incident, delving into the facts and theories surrounding UFOs.
For centuries, UFOs, or unidentified flying objects, have been a legend.
People continue to claim that they saw a saucer-like object in the sky or that their dog was abducted by aliens from coast to coast and continent to continent.
Given all of the truly incredible information surrounding UFOs, it can be difficult to distinguish fact from fiction. Fortunately, we are here to assist you in determining all UFO facts once and for all.
The US government had its own UFO task force.
According to the National Archives, Project Blue Book was a systematic investigation of UFOs by the US Air Force. From 1947 to 1969, Project Blue Book made every effort to investigate every UFO claim in order to determine whether or not it posed a threat to national security.
While the majority of the 12,618 sightings can be attributed to weather-related phenomena, the government admits that the task force failed to disclose 701 cases despite active investigations.
After being pursued by a UFO, an experienced pilot crashed and died.
In January 1948, Thomas Mantell, a decorated World War II fighter pilot and member of the Kentucky Air National Guard, crashed and died while on the hunt for a UFO. A New York Times article on the pilot stated that there had previously been “reports of a flying saucer in the Kentucky area, leading Mantell to his “fruitless” and ultimately fatal pursuit.”
The circumstances surrounding its demise are still being debated by the public and the military. Members of the Kentucky National Guard, who were also looking for UFOs that day, were never able to pinpoint what they were looking for. Some scientists speculate that it was a weather balloon, but the truth is that we will never know.
