A war over UFO disclosure broke out on Capitol Hill after House Republicans were accused of obstructing a bill that would declassify records of mysterious sightings.

The Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Disclosure Act of 2023 was passed by the Senate in July but needs full congressional approval to be part of the National Defense Authorization (NDAA) 2024.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took the stand Monday to slam Republicans for pushing back on the legislation that would force governments to disclose if aliens have visited Earth.

Schumer said on the Senate floor that the Republicans are trying to ‘kill a commonsense, bipartisan measure’ and preventing Americans from accessing records on a topic of ‘intense curiosity’.

It is unknown why Republicans are working against the legislation – but some speculate it is because the executive branch is concealing vital information regarding UFOs, which extends over a long period of time.

Mike Turner (R-Ohio), Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) are said to be among those pushing back on the bill.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said on his show on X in late November that Rogers and Turner ‘have been instructed to violate, in letter and in spirit, federal law, and to hide the truth about UFOs.’

Carlson later called out Speaker of the House Johnson and McConnell for being among those looking to ‘shut [the bill] down.’

David Grusch, a former high-ranking intelligence official who testified under oath about his experience with UAPs, also named Rogers and Turner during a recent interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

‘Why are you blocking the bill? And it’s not going to cost much, a couple [of] million a year max, you know, for the panel, which is like vaporware in U.S. government speak, right?’ Grusch said during the podcast.

The Senate passed the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Disclosure Act in July, requiring government offices to hand over all UAP records no later than 300 days after the amendment’s enactment date. The bill now needs congressional approval

‘If there’s nothing to see here, why are Mike Rogers and Mike Turner in the House blocking this bill that is, in my opinion, the most important legislation for transparency in American history?’

Schumer told the Senate floor Monday: ‘House Republicans are also attempting to kill another commonsense, bipartisan measure passed by the Senate, which I was proud to cosponsor … to increase transparency around what the government does and does not know about unidentified aerial phenomena,’ Schumer said.

‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena has generated intense curiosity from many Americans, and the risk for confusion and misinformation is high if the government is not willing to be transparent.’

Schumer has teamed up with Senator Mike Rounds, a Republican, in leading an effort to force disclosure.

The UFO bill was modeled after the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, which required all assassination-related material be housed in a single collection in the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

The measure would create a board just like with the JFK assassination records to work through the declassification of the many government records on UAPs,’ Schumer said Monday.

‘This model has been a terrific success for decades and should be used with UAPs.’

Schumer, Rounds and three other senators, one Democrat and two Republicans, believe several Republicans are plotting to hinder their efforts.

The bill was passed as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization (NDAA) for 2024 in July, but it has yet to receive full congressional approval.

Both the House and Senate must pass the same bill by majority vote – and with the Senate’s approval, the amendment is in the hands of the House.

If the act is greenlighted, government agencies with records, samples of craft or ‘biological’ material must hand it over within 300 days.

President Joe Biden will have 90 days to appoint a nine-person Review Board responsible for investigating each record and determining if they are considered UAPs that should be disclosed to the public.

Any government agency possessing such records must hand over printed and digital copies to the board, which has 180 days to investigate and 14 days to publish their findings.

The president, however, can vote against disclosing specific evidence if it poses a national threat.

The bill is just part of the growing UFO curiosity in the US, which has gained traction in recent years due to high-ranking military officials coming forward with reports of such sightings.

Grusch claimed that the US has had UFOs since ‘the 1930s’ and has been secretly back-engineering them and carrying out a public disinformation campaign to prevent the details from leaking publicly.

At one point during the first-of-its-kind hearing, Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn) asked Grusch: ‘Personally, have you heard anyone [has] been murdered?’

Grusch said: ‘I have to be careful answering that question. I directed people with that knowledge to the appropriate authorities.’
