Concerning the UFO Sighting Outside Mt Roskill, Auckland is a solo theatre show that tells the story of a young man in 1980s Auckland who is struggling with his growing belief in aliens and his life as a closeted gay man.

Dana is an average office worker for an insurance company in Mt Roskill; his monotonous life and perspective unravel after encountering a UFO while cruising at a local park late.

This acclaimed solo is having a Tāmaki Makaurau comeback after featuring in this year’s Pride Festival offerings at The Basement Theatre and a Kia Mau Festival Season at BATS Theatre. Nau mai ki Te Pou Reon Bell!

What reviewers have said:

“Bell…is excellent in this solo play. He plays the comedy without losing the human truth, and plays the truth without ever losing the heart. It’s a solo that you’re actually stoked to be watching, rather than sitting there admiring. You’ll leave wanting to see whatever Bell does next.” – Sam Brooks, Spinoff (Read the full review here)

“I found the show to be a wonderful orchestration of theatrical elements. The show is fun, at times feeling like I was on a musical road trip through Mt Roskill. The performance is charming, engaging and at moments, honest and touching.» – Annual Prakash, THEATRE SCENES

“Bell keeps the audience captivated and curious from the moment you walk into the studio to find your seat.” – Rewa Fowles, Ratworld Magazine (Read the full review here)

«A beautiful, delicate, raunchy way of raising questions about how we relate to each other.» – Waitahi Aniwaniwa McGee, Theatreview (Read the full review here)
