Yesterday’s total solar eclipse, which seemingly hijacked the April 08 headlines, turned out to be one of the most experienced astronomical events as almost half the US was outside their homes to watch the skies go dark amid the broad daylight. Following the breathtaking event, multiple videos and photos flooded the internet, as netizens, understandably, were ‘ironically’ over the Moon to share their POVs of the Moon covering the Sun. However, amid all the jaw-dropping shots of the eclipse, there was one video that stirred a storm for a different reason. A video of an alleged UFO sighting was shared on the internet, which instantly went viral.
The said UFO was actually a shadow of an aircraft flying above the clouds, during the eclipse. However, what made the otherwise perfectly normal aircraft shadow eerie, was that it seemingly disappeared into the clouds. The video was reportedly shot from Arlington in Texas.
The video was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘MattWallace888’. The post was captioned, “A new video just surfaced of the UFO spotted over Arlington Texas during the solar eclipse today and people are freaking out because it seems to have disappeared into the clouds.”

The video is heavily circulating on social media and people surely have a lot to say. Some gave an alleged logical explanation as to what was happening and credited a plane flying at a higher altitude behind the shadow, while the rest agreed with it being a UFO. The video was shared today and pulled 3.7M views from people.

Taking to the comment section, netizens shared their views. “Shadow on the clouds from a higher altitude airplane. I have seen this many times as an aviation spotter,” a user said. “Hopefully they don’t ask to see our leader,” added a second person. “Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice,” wrote another. “Is NASA planning an alien invasion hoax (Project Blue Beam),” joked a fourth person.
“It’s an airliner’s shadow on the cloud. It disappears when it passes into clear air. Airplane shadows stay the same size as the airplane because the light source (sun) is so far away. It happened before totality,” explained another user. “Beam me up,…. Please. I will even let you do experiments on me. Just don’t bring me back,” joked another.
