UFO Sightings In Yardley Area Show Up In National Database

YARDLEY, PA —When you think of UFO sightings in Pennsylvania, the Yardley area probably wouldn’t come to mind.

But there it was —mentioned recently in a self-reporting national database of UFO sightings, in which numerous ones came from Pennsylvania, including two reports also from Morrisville.

While the Pentagon, in its 63-page report, on Friday again dismissed the notion that U.S. authorities covered up extraterrestrial life aboard unidentified flying objects, more than 40 percent of Americans think UFOs are alien spacecraft from other planets or galaxies do exist.

And while you would expect someone to be reporting about an unusual object in the sky, the Yardley report is even stranger than the rest:

• Seen at 4 p.m. in Yardley on July 25, 2023: «There are alien bird noises played by an alien speaker in our backyard; real birds are not there, these are electronic noises.»

Maybe someone’s backyard barbecue last summer was a little more than smoky, but local officials aren’t biting and don’t even know what to make of the report.

Two reports in Morrisville —one last April and one last May —mentioned objects in the sky.

One reported two white bright lights with yellowish lights flashing. The other report stated that someone was looking out a window of the house and saw a ball of orange light appear in the trees past a neighbor’s house.

So, what is the explanation for sightings Pennsylvania residents have reported to the crowdsourced National UFO Reporting Center about strange sightings over Keystone State skies?

No one really knows.

Yardley Borough Manager Paula Johnson wouldn’t comment on the report Thursday but did say that the report could have been made by someone from Lower Makefield Township.

Lower Makefield Township officials and police did not respond to a Patch email Thursday seeking comment.

«So funny,» said Shirley Lee Corsey, conservator of The Gather Place museum in Yardley.

Yardley Councilman David Appelbaum, someone who always has a quick quip, was out of town and couldn’t comment: «I was kidnapped by aliens. Maybe later if they allow me to make a phone call,» he said.

Susan Taylor, president of the Yardley Historical Association, told Patch on Thursday that she did not find any information regarding a history of UFO sightings in the borough in researching the collection at the Old Library.

Appelbaum later sent Patch a comment about aliens choosing Yardley as a destination.

«I am surprised as anyone else that UFOs have been spotted in Yardley,» said Appelbaum, who also serves as chairman of the borough’s Community and Economic Development Committee. «Simply put, even aliens cannot resist the charm of Yardley and its well-deserved reputation as one of Bucks County’s must-visit destinations. Surely, when ET phones home, it says ‘Greetings From Yardley.'»

The other Pennsylvania sightings included:

• Seen at 7:30 p.m. in Monroeville on Feb. 14, 2024: «Observed a bright large spherical object tracked and merged with a smaller sphere.»
• Seen at 9:45 p.m. in Philadelphia on Jan. 5, 2024: «Large, linear flying object traveling at low level that disappeared suddenly.»
• Seen at 3:30 p.m. in Reading on Dec. 16, 2023: «Definitely caught my attention never seen something like that and flying in that matter plus as metallic glowing some think I’m crazy.»
• Seen at 8 p.m. in Pittsburgh on Dec. 8, 2023: «My husband and I saw and took a video of a very large, chevron shaped craft with a straight row of lights across the back center.»
• Seen at 7:30 p.m. in Drexel Hill on Sept. 1, 2023: «Saw bright objects in the sky did not look like planes slowly in a pattern.»
