Raël – The Alien Prophet, which is a four-part Netflix documentary on the life of Claude Vorilhon, has viewers gripped. Vorilhon, who was formerly a sports journalist, claimed to have developed «powers» after being abducted by extraterrestrials in 1973.

The Frenchman used these newfound abilities to wreak havoc, start a cult, and sleep with women to the extent he was labeled a “sex maniac”. Vorilhon then changed his name to Raël and founded the Raëlian Movement, which is an international religion based on UFOs.

In episode three of the four-part series, Raël put forward the theory that humanity was created inside a laboratory by an advanced alien species. Titled The American Dream, the episode delved into the religion and the role of biochemist Brigitte Boisselier inside the organization.

Raël and his followers have advocated for human cloning in the past, and the French native claimed in the episode that the first ever human clone, Eve, was born in the mid-2000s in an undisclosed location. Despite his assertion, no evidence of Eve has ever come to light.

The Netflix series also explores Raël’s nude ‘sensual meditation’ rituals, as well as the controversial allegations that the UFO movements leader coerced women into signing sex ‘contracts’. These agreements reportedly made the women ‘sexually exclusive’ to Raël.

Posting on X, one social media user described the documentary series as a “remarkable, startling and often disturbing story”. Another person expressed a similar sentiment, writing: “The Netflix docu about Raël and his sect is as creepy as it is exciting…»

“If you haven’t watched ‘Raël: The Alien Prophet’s on Netflix, please do so. It’s… uncomfortable… I knew the name but not the story… I’m going to take a cleaning break,» wrote another person.
