If you’re on the hunt for aliens and UFOs in the US, your best bet is to head out west.
The National UFO Reporting Center and the US Census Bureau received more than 100,000 reports of alien sightings between 2000 and 2023. Despite averaging out at 34.3 sightings per 100,000 residents across the country, some areas saw significantly more ‘extra-terrestrial’ activity than others.
Topping the list is Lincoln County, Nevada, home to the infamous Area 51, with a staggering 820.9 sightings per 100,000 residents. Other hotspots include Alpine County in California, Petroleum County in Montana, and La Paz County in Arizona, all reporting nearly 500-600 sightings between 2003 and 2023.

However, Area 51 and Nevada aren’t the only UFO hotspots. Arthur County, Nebraska, came second with 618.6 sightings despite having just 434 residents.
Third place went to Alpine County, California, home to 1,204 people who all vote by post.
Petroleum County, Montana, came fourth. It’s the last organised of the state’s 56 counties and has just 524 inhabitants and two rivers.
Fifth was La Paz County, Arizona, home to around 16,557 people and several ghost towns.

According to seasoned scientist and intelligence officer Sean Kirkpatrick, those who believe in aliens can be found within the US government.
«True believers are not just outside of government; many of them are inside government,» said Kirkpatrick.
Nevada’s late US Senator Harry Reid was one such believer in extraterrestrial life.
«Senator Harry Reid was a true believer and thought that ‘Hey, the government is hiding this from congressional oversight’,» the scientist stated.

Over the years, there have been many debates about the existence of aliens and UFOs.
US representative Robert Garcia even shared his thoughts on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) last year.
He said: «UAPs, whatever they may be, may pose a serious threat to our military and our civilian aircraft, and that must be understood.
He added: «We should encourage more reporting, not less on UAPs. The more we understand, the safer we will be.»
