From building formidable armies of augmented soldiers to embarking on quests for legendary artifacts like the Lost Ark of the Covenant, their exploits are steeped in mystery and myth. Yet, among the most enigmatic tales to emerge from this dark chapter in human history are the rumors surrounding a clandestine Nazi base nestled deep within the icy heart of Antarctica.

The saga begins in the late 1930s, a time of escalating tensions and looming conflict across Europe. In December 1938, just months before the outbreak of World War II, the Nazis launched an audacious expedition to Antarctica. Ostensibly, their mission was twofold: to survey the uncharted territory and safeguard German interests in the face of potential threats. Armed with state-of-the-art weaponry and aided by advanced aircraft and ships, the expedition ventured into the frozen unknown, laying claim to vast stretches of land and christening the region “Neuschwabenland.”

However, as the shadows of war darkened the horizon, the Nazis seemed to abandon their Antarctic ambitions. Despite their initial foray into the icy wilderness, no permanent structures were erected, and the region lay untouched by human hands. Yet, whispers soon began to circulate of something more sinister lurking beneath the surface. Rumors of a secret Nazi base, concealed amidst the frozen wastes, began to take root, fueled by tales of high-ranking Nazi officials seeking refuge in this remote stronghold.

One of the earliest proponents of these theories was Ladislas Szabo, a Hungarian exile residing in Argentina. In 1947, Szabo ignited a firestorm of speculation with his sensational claims of a Nazi U-boat docking in Argentina, allegedly carrying Hitler and his inner circle. Szabo went further, spinning a tale of a hidden Antarctic sanctuary known as “New Berchetesgaden,” where the Nazis had supposedly established a fortress.
