Multiple people have been interviewed to replace the Pentagon’s UFO chief amid whistleblower accusations, according to reports.

Dr Sean Kirkpatrick has been the face of the Pentagon’s testimony on UFOS, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Mail reports a decision has already been made after «four major candidates» were interviewed to come in and take over as head of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO).

«Given their public affairs track record they may not put out anything to the press until well after the change, but who knows? They might surprise us,» an ex-official said to be familiar with UAP investigation programs in the Pentagon told the news outlet.

This week, former intelligence officer David Grusch publicly accused Kirkpatrick of lying about Pentagon investigations. Kirkpatrick has already called Grusch’s testimony – made to the same House Oversight Committee he spoke to – as «insulting.»

An attorney helping whistleblowers working with Grusch said they «don’t trust and never did trust Sean» – the whistleblowers reportedly include current and former intelligence community members and Department of Defence (DoD) personnel.

Grusch alleges retrieval of secret UFO equipment and it being used in reverse engineering – the act of dismantling an object, seeing how it works and using it for other means. In a recent press conference, Kirkpatrick – who faces a petition signed by over 1,700 people calling for his head – said he had spoken to «a whole range of people, over 30 people now,» in relation to the alleged matter. «I think we’ve interviewed most of the people that he [Grusch] may have talked to,» he said.

«We have extended an invitation at least four or five times now for him [Grusch] to come in over the last eight months or so… and have been declined.» Grusch said this is a lie and retired US Air Force Captain David Schindele, who once reported a UFO encounter to AARO, said Kirkpatrick’s AARO team generated an «atmosphere of disinterest.»

Despite this, the intelligence officer who spoke to the Mail said Kirkpatrick plans to leave his role regardless of the ire shown towards him from outside AARO. «I think it’s completely a planned departure, he probably gave them a timeline when he took the job,» they said.

The source added that he would be moving to a position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a federally funded research facility. Pentagon spokesperson Susan Gough said that Kirkpatrick is not moonlighting for the organisation operated by development company Battelle, despite claims.

«Dr Kirkpatrick remains the director, AARO, he is not currently employed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory,» Gough said.
