Rylan Clark has revealed he once witnessed a terrifying UFO encounter, and rang the police for help.
The presenter, 35, is stepping in on This Morning alongside Josie Gibson, after Holly Willoughby’s departure.
During the morning’s news segment, the hosts had been discussing the Pentagon launching a reporting tool for sightings of any UFOs (‘unidentified flying objects’), which prompted Rylan to reveal his own experience.
Guest Isla Traquair had been speaking about how a previous interviewee had described a UFO in ‘the shape of a triangle’, with Rylan interrupting: ‘Woah that’s really strange you said that!’
He then explained: ‘I stopped in my tracks because, actually, I’ve said this story before – I do believe in things, I’m sure we’re not the only ones out there, but until you see something…
‘I remember, it was around 7pm, I was 20/21 years old,’ Rylan began, setting the scene.
‘I was in the garden with my friend who did not believe anything like this, looking up because I love astronomy, and there was one that looked like a triangle.
‘Nine dots in the shape of a triangle, he was like, “What’s that one?” and I went, “I don’t really know what that one is.”
‘Then it started moving, just really slowly though, really slowly.
‘These dots were in formation, and I was like, oh it’s a plane, and then your brain catches up with you and a plane can’t stop in the sky.
‘So then I was like this is all very very strange.’
Rylan went on to explain how the ‘UFO’ moved around in the sky, saying: ‘The first three dots of this triangle stayed moving the same, but the other ones moved around.’
As Isla admitted she had heard of the same occurring, a stunned Rylan shouted out: ‘Please don’t!’
He continued: ‘It just went, so I then had a moment and rung the police!
‘I didn’t know what else to do.’
The police then told Rylan that there used to be a government line for UFO encounters that had been decomissioned.
‘I couldn’t understand what I saw, I was trying to Google everything,’ Rylan continued.
‘The only way to describe what I saw was like a bird, so I typed in “UFO flap”, and I didn’t realise the word “flap” is the collective name for UFOs, and a picture of it came up!’
Rylan went on to joke that his own show on ‘alien watching’ would be coming soon, adding: ‘I don’t know what I saw, but I felt like I had a reason to see it.
‘To this day, I still don’t know why and sometimes when I look up, I get a weird twinge.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
